Events in Samaria Gorge by the Greek Mountaineering Association of Chania

Two events are organized by the Greek Mountaineering Club of Hania, at the  Samaria Gorge this year.

The Annual Samaria festival (30/04 – 01/05/2011)
It’s the 24th year in the row, the Greek Mountaineering Club of Hania, organizes the festival of the Samaria gorge, dedicated to the grace of Holy Mary of Egypt, which will take part on the weekend 30 April – 1 May 2011. All participants will be staying in tents for the night.

Boat to Gavdos Island Crete 2011

A new shipping venture of local businessmen gives this solution to the problem of boat transportation to the lovely island of Gavdos which had a arise since last summer.

The boat routes starts next week and the new shipping company is operating under the name of «GAVDOS LINES» with boat «GAVDOS EXPRESS 1». The craft is a closed hisgh-speed type boat. Its length is 18 meters and was build in 2007. According to the company’s representative, Mr. Stafanos Mpikogiannakis, the boat capacity is up to 65 passengers.

The boat will start officially its trips to the island on the 15th of April 2011, including trips-excursions to Gavdos island from Plakias and Palaiochora and vice versus. Read more »

Inauguration ceremony for the “Back to Rethymno” exhibition of promotional material of the Tourism Promotion Committee of the Prefecture of Rethymno. The exhibition will be open to the public every day from 27/9 to 3/10 between 10:00-14:00 hours and 18:00 – 22:00

Aghios Nikolaos Crete Municipality is organising a series of events to celebrate the World’s Tourism Day for 2010. The series will take place in Aghios Nikolaos, Elounda, Kalo Chorio and Kritsa, from Friday 24/09 through Monday 27/09/2010.

The celebration program will include offers & treats to the visitors at the beaches and the local tourist information bureaus, Cretan Cuisine Cooking contest with participation of the women from Kalo Horio and Prinas, events of the students in Kalo Chorio elementary school, exhibition of Cretan products, awards to the best professionals of Tourism, Musical Cretan nights dancing and singing, the 13th presentation “Gastronomy in Lasithi” – Appearance and Taste 2010 as well as traditional events in Kritsa village.

Crete is a beautiful island that has everything. It’s a crossroad of sea ways and cultures, rich in history and unique Mediterranean landscapes. Cosmopolitan, same time traditional. The Cretan land it self, in combination with its hospitality is what made the island one of the most popular travelling destinations in Greece and perhaps in Europe.  An extraordinary place to be, that can satisfy even the most demanding visitor.

We really love hospitality and that’s why we would like to be your guide or to be more accurate your “e-guide”! This is the purpose of this blog to present you articles relevant to the largest and greater island of Greece.
